Change of Plans
I might not get any poker in until Sunday or Monday night now. Heading to Detroit for the Pistons game tonight and then to the Detroit Auto show on Sunday. In addition, I still have about 1/3 of ITH left to read.
No Play
Just a quick post to say that I haven’t played online in a week now as I had planned. I’ve really got the itch, but I’m going to stick to my plan. I’m about 1/3 of the way through reading Internet Texas Hold’em and I think I should be able to finish if I spend some time tonight before basketball and then tomorrow afternoon. While reading TOP and ITH, I’ve had the chance to really reflect on my game and I know quite a few places where I had been making mistakes over the last two months. I can’t wait to step back into the ring…hopefully tomorrow night to start working off the new Party Poker bonus. Dave and I have started to play heads-up limit during our lunches a few times a week. Just a way to practice and stop thinking about work. Nothing for money, but we do take it serious. I’ve won both sessions and I’m up 7.5 BB on him.

Over my last 13,000 hands, I’ve lost a total of $1.47. I’ve been playing horrible poker. It’s time for some heavy reading and a review of my play.
BIGGGG Bad Beat Jackpot
If you aren’t playing on Party Poker right now, what the hell are you thinking? The bad beat jackpot is almost at $700,000! Yes, that’s nearly 3/4 of a million!
No Pot
I just played a pot limit hold’em game for over 2 hours and thought it was no limit the whole time. I kept wondering why I’d try to raise it up to $2 and my bet would only come out $1.75. Just goes to show I should stay away from the tables with a word in front of limit. I’m a much much better limit player anyways.
Rollin’ Down the River
I hit my 3rd straight flush (one was royal) in the last month tonight. All of them have come in on the river.

Happy New Year
Tonight I’m off to St. Ignace for some casino poker. I can’t wait. I haven’t played there in at least 6 months, so it’s long overdue. My limit game has improved dramatically since then. I’m out to have fun, but plan to take some cash in the process. From my experience there, the level of play is much worse than online. They do have a weird betting structure though. It’s always been 3-5-10-10 when I’ve played. I should probably change my game a little for this, but I don’t really know which way I should go so I’ll play my normal fish beating game.

Over my last 10,000 hands, the cards with the highest winning percentage are A♦A♠, K♣K♥, Q♣Q♠, A♠K♠, and A♥K♦. In that exact order too. It’s reassuring to know that the best hand wins the majority of the time, even online.

Somebody just sat down at my $2/4 table with over $4,400! Is this supposed to be intimidating?
Christmas Wishes
What’s on your Christmas list this year related to poker? I really hope I get Zen and the Art of Poker: Timeless Secrets to Transform Your Game. I’m doing well at handling all of the bad beats, simply because I’ve come to expect them, but I think this book would really help out the mental aspects of my game.

Two winning days in a row. I can’t remember the last time that happened.
Player of the Year
My favorite poker pro, Daniel Negreanu won the final event of the season, the WPT Bellagio event, to take the Card Player Player of the Year. David Pham had passed Negreanu in the standings with only two events left on the schedule, so the pressure was on and boy did he ever come through. Negreanu finished the year with 11 final tables and nearly 4.5 million in winnings to go along with being the WSOP Player of the Year.
Second Best Doesn’t Pay
Did you know that the second best hand in a ring game doesn’t pay anything? I have a lot of proof from last night if you don’t believe me.
